Clinical Product Lead, Psychological Assessment

Melbourne or Sydney (hybrid) or United States. Full-time.

NovoPsych exists to help mental health clinicians improve their client outcomes. Behind every one of the assessments we deliver is a clinician sitting with someone who is struggling, trying to understand them well enough to help. Everything we build is in service of that moment.

Since 2012, more than 75,000 mental health professionals across Australia, North America, the UK, Europe and New Zealand have used NovoPsych’s 150+ validated assessments and NovoNote, our AI scribe and clinical writing assistant. Clinicians trust us because we are scientist-led: clinical psychologists and PhD psychometricians work alongside our engineers, and we publish our research in peer-reviewed journals.

We are growing fast and are still small enough at around 30 people that every hire shapes the company. If you want your work to change how mental health care is delivered around the world, and you move quickly, this is the place.

Lead the product that started it all: NovoPsych’s psychological assessment platform, used by tens of thousands of clinicians to understand their clients and measure change. You’ll decide and oversee what we build next and make sure it genuinely improves care.

The opportunity

Our assessment platform is trusted because it’s built by clinicians and scientists. Now we’re rebuilding it on a new architecture, adding new measures (including adaptive and neuropsychological assessment), and connecting it with AI documentation. We need a clinician who thinks like a product leader to own that roadmap and keep it anchored in what clinicians and clients actually need.

What you’ll do

  • Envision and operationalise the future of psychological assessment, which is AI-enabled and creates real client impact.
  • Own the assessment product roadmap: a step-by-step plan to create the 2030 state of the art in mental health assessment.
  • Run continuous discovery with clinicians: interviews, usability testing and prototype reviews.
  • Identify technological, industry and scientific opportunities in psychological assessment.
  • Work with our psychometrics team to bring new validated measures into the product.
  • Shape measurement-based care workflows that help clinicians see whether treatment is working.
  • Connect assessment results with NovoNote, so reports and notes use scores well.
  • Partner with engineering and design on the platform rebuild, making sure clinical logic and business rules are right.
  • Measure what you ship: adoption, completion rates and clinician satisfaction.

You’ll thrive here if you…

  • Are ambitious and want to set the direction for a product used across the world.
  • Think like a clinician and act like a builder.
  • Hold a high bar for clinical accuracy and a bias for shipping.
  • Want to prove that better measurement leads to better outcomes.

Selection criteria

  • Registered psychologist or other mental health clinician, with practice experience in assessment.
  • Experience in product management, clinical informatics or digital health product roles.
  • Strong understanding of psychometrics and psychological assessment.
  • Out-of-the-box thinking: beyond psychometrics and psychopathology, into dynamic formulations and contextual factors.
  • Experience working directly with engineers and designers.
  • Clear, structured writing and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience with AI workflows.

Nice to have

  • Research background (PhD or research Masters).
  • Experience with measurement-based care or outcome monitoring.
  • Comfort with data science.

What success looks like in 12 months

  • A clear, published assessment roadmap that clinicians and the team understand.
  • At least two new measures or major assessment features shipped and adopted.
  • A clear pathway to a step change in psychological assessment efficiency and effectiveness.

What we offer

  • Ownership of a product trusted by tens of thousands of clinicians worldwide.
  • A world-class research and clinical team. Meet the team.
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and impact.
  • Hybrid or remote flexibility, with autonomy and strong organisational support.
  • The chance to define the next generation of psychological assessment.
